The 7th Annual Blairsville Extreme Adventure Race (BEAR) will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021. The race will start at Meeks Park in Blairsville, GA on Saturday. Teams will be exploring the mountains, rivers, lakes, trails, and beautiful woods surrounding Blairsville, Georgia home of the highest mountain in Georgia. All races are for solo, 2, 3, or 4 person teams coed or (same-sex) open.

Details

The 12-hour Adventure Race is perfect for sport or family teams looking to have some fun discovering the outdoors with adventure racing. Easy to read and simple navigation will take you to some hidden spots around Blairsville.

 

Distances are always based on your team's abilities and speed in adventure racing; however, you can expect between 25-35 miles of mountain biking, 8-9 miles of trekking with 6-10 miles of canoeing.

Teams will be required to drop their bikes a location which will be provided in the email just before the race. Bike drop opens at 4:30am. Check-in starts at 5:00am to 6:00am with instructions and (pre-plotted) map followed by a pre-race meeting at 6:30am. The race start at 7:00am.

All teammates must be present to check-in and receive instructions. The later you are the shorter the time to prepare. Your first discipline to start the race will be revealed during check-in.

 

We supply all canoes, paddles, and PFDs; however, teams may bring their own paddle gear if placed in paddle bags. Water and snacks will be provided at most transition areas; however, not guaranteed so bring water purification tablets.

Race Includes: t-shirt, food and drink during the race, awards for each division, and dinner at the end of the race.

Waivers

In order to speed up the check-in process on race day, please download and fill in the ARGeorgia Liability Waiver for each team member, and bring to the race with you to check-in.

Cancellation

Rain or Shine. Adventure races are unlikely to ever cancel due to weather; however, sometimes extreme weather could cause delays or cancellation of the race. If your team needs to withdraw, or we need to cancel you will receive a refund (less 10% for processing) 2 months before the event. 75% refunds 60 days before the race date and 50% refunds 30 days out to the day before the race date. Any deferment to another race is the value (lees 10% for processing) So, if a team paid $100 for race A and wants to defer to race B, they would have a $90 credit. Any deferments are no-refundable for Race B. Racers must defer before 30 days from the event.
