The best part of the season, beautiful location, music, food and beer.

The Blue Ridge Ultra is a 50K loop trail race is deep within the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest of the North Georgia Mountains. It consists of 16 miles of the Benton MacKaye trail, 6 miles of Hidden trails and 9 miles of Forest Service roads with over 6,000 feet of elevation change.  You will experience tough, and sometimes technical spots, single track trails, jumping over logs, creek crossings, steep ascents and even steeper descents all while enjoying the leaves changing colors. Start and Finish at the historic Shallowford iron bridge spanning the Toccoa River. This race will challenge the most experienced racer and provide a memorable experience for those looking to complete a trail run in the mountains of Blue Ridge. Using the same trails, there is a 30K and 15K option. NEVER STEP FOOT ON THE SAME TRAIL DURING THIS RACE, NO OUT AND BACKS OR REPEATS.

Start and Finish Location: Ironbridge Bridge Cafe off Aska Road outside Blue Ridge, Georgia. 8436 Aska Rd, Blue Ridge, GA 30513. Parking is limited and shuttle location may be added due to the number of runners that sign-up. Details will be emailed before the race.  

Schedule:

50K Start: 7am   Cut-off is 12 Hours or 7pm. There will be a re-route at the last aid station that will shorten the race by about 4 miles. 

30K Start: 8am   Cut-off is 7pm.

15K Start: 9am   Cut-off is 7pm.

Aid Stations:

There will be no need for a support crew during this event. We will have several fully stocked aid stations along the course to refuel and regain your strength. The 50K runners will be allowed one drop bag at the halfway aid station which you will visit twice during the race. All aid stations will have water, Gatorade, cola, snacks, cookies, candy, sandwiches, and fruit. All other items will need to be carried by racers. 

Race Data:

Signs and flagging mark the course. The race starts out heading up Free Knob on a local trail which takes runners onto some older more rugged trails which they will need to navigate over logs, rocks, and streams. This is the most technical part of the course along the banks of the Toccoa River and a good warm-up heading into the first aid station at Shallowford Bridge Rd meets Old Dial Rd. The course then takes runners along a very nice Forest Service road that heading up to connect with the Benton MacKaye Trail. Here come the climbs, straight up to the BMT to Garland Mountain Gap. 50K and 30K turn left at the gap and 15K turn right to return to Shallowford Bridge via BMT. 50K and 30K runners then take the BMT up and over Brawley, Bald Top, and Tipton mountains before heading into the (Hwy 60) Wilscot Gap aid station. 30K runners turn South here down on Hwy 60 and follow signs to turn on Forest Service road 35. 50K runners continue East on the BMT to climb over Wilscot and Deadennen mountains on the way to Sheenah Gap Road. There is a water station here, however no aid. Following the signs West to Forest Service Road 640, runners will enjoy a break from the single track trail on this very long rolling clay road. 50 Runners will then pass back over Hwy 60 at the FS 35 aid station picking back up where the 30K runners are down Forest Service road 35. 50K and 30K runners still enjoying more rolling clay packed road then take a hidden trail straight back up to Garland Mountain Gap to pick up the BMT trail. Burn baby burn! It's not over yet as runners jump back on the BMT now heading West where the 15K runners are heading the finish. After a few more climbs then downhill to the first aid station runners then climb back over the East side of Free Knob to the finish. Runners will never be on the same trail twice during this race with a great mix terrain. 

  

Dinner and Beer:

We will be providing dinner at the finish for all racers.

Rules:

No cutting of the designed course. All flags must be punched to receive credit for the entire course. Details in pre-race email.

Listen and follow all instructions from race staff / medical personnel during the race.

Be courteous to other runners and day hikers.  

You may only receive the aid within 100 feet of an aid station that allows crew access

No littering. Take in, take out.

Trekking poles are allowed.

The Race Director has the sole discretion of the administration of any violations of the race rules ranging from a time penalty, up to and including disqualification.

Cancellations and Transfers:

We understand things happen. No refunds will be issued, however, you may transfer your entry to another racer in the same event without a penalty until 5 days before the event. You are responsible for finding a person interested in buying your entry as well as working out payment with them. Entries do not transfer to other events nor do they transfer year to year. If you would like to sell your entry to another racer, please contact info@argeorgia.com with the name and email of the person you wish to transfer your entry.
